Ailos Robotics Raises €3.5M for Humanoid Robot Gearboxes

In December 2025, Brussels-based Ailos Robotics raised €3.5 million in a Seed funding round. The round was co-led by Qbic and High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), with participation from Wallonie Entreprendre and finance&invest.brussels.

Founded by CEO Pablo López García and Stein Crispel, Ailos Robotics is a spin-off from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) focused on hardware innovation for the next generation of robots.

The company has developed a patented technology called the “R2poweR gearbox.” This hardware innovation combines the agility of direct drives with the strength of traditional gears, allowing manufacturers to build lighter, safer, and more energy-efficient robots. The technology is specifically designed to address the hardware limitations of humanoid robots and collaborative robots (cobots).

The new capital will be used to industrialize its production line, scale its supply chain, and accelerate pilot projects with robot manufacturers across Europe and the US.
