Summize Raises $50M for Embedded Contracts

Manchester-based Summize secured $50 million in a round led by Kennet Partners and Federated Hermes, with participation from Maven and YFM.

Led by CEO Tom Dunlop, a former athlete and commercial lawyer, Summize integrates “intelligent agents” directly into Slack, Teams, and Salesforce. Unlike traditional CLM silos, Summize allows legal teams to manage the entire contract lifecycle within their native work environments.

The shift toward “frictionless legal ops” mirrors the rise of mission specific apps and specialized e-commerce voice layers. Summize has maintained 100% ARR growth for five consecutive years, serving global clients including Revolut and multiple MLS, NBA, and NFL teams.

Market Signal

  • Embedded Alpha: By integrating into existing workflows rather than creating a new destination, Summize removes the primary implementation barrier in LegalTech, securing high user adoption and retention.
  • From Summary to Agent: The platform utilizes autonomous agents for contract review and logic extraction, transforming static legal documents into actionable enterprise data.
  • Enterprise Standard: Adoption by top-tier sports leagues and fintech giants validates that embedded legal logic is becoming a core infrastructure requirement for high-growth organizations.
