Spot AI Secures $31M Series B1 to Launch Video AI Agents

Spot AI, a leader in AI camera systems, recently raised $31 million in Series B1 funding, bringing their total funding to $93 million. This latest round included new investor Qualcomm Ventures alongside existing backers Scale Venture Partners, StepStone Group, Redpoint Ventures, and Bessemer Venture Partners.

Spot AI also introduced their flagship product, Video AI Agents, a pivotal step in applying Agentic AI capabilities to real-world challenges. Video AI Agents empower organizations to instantly address and resolve safety, security, and operational incidents, delivering measurable returns on investment across sectors like manufacturing, education, retail, and auto services.

Traditional video surveillance systems were limited to recording and basic alerts, relying on human intervention for responses. Video AI Agents, however, transform cameras into proactive problem-solvers that can autonomously assess and respond to situations. “Our AI Agents can fully understand the context of a scene and trigger mitigation actions,” explains CEO and co-founder, Rish Gupta. For instance, agents can send alerts, analyze data, activate lights or sounds, issue verbal commands, or even initiate machinery adjustments to enhance safety and efficiency in real-time.

“Eighty percent of our understanding of the world happens through eyes,” Gupta added. “That’s why we’re dedicated to helping our customers turn their video cameras into additional teammates.” Spot AI’s agents leverage advanced AI to interpret events in physical spaces, taking action as needed.

Serving 1,000 clients across 17 industries, Spot AI processes a video dataset exceeding twice the daily uploads of YouTube, making video data as actionable as any other information type in industries with safety, productivity, and security demands. With this vast dataset, Spot AI fine-tunes large language models (LLMs), giving their AI agents unparalleled contextual awareness.

“Spot AI led us from having a video surveillance system to fully leveraging video AI to drive business results,” shares Cornel Stewart, an engineer at Elite Comfort Solutions. “Not only have we seen a reduction in injuries and incidents, but the system’s ability to identify potential hazards has allowed us to address issues before they escalate. It’s like having an extra set of expert eyes monitoring our facility 24/7.”

Spot AI’s Video AI Agents have achieved impressive results across industries:

  • Manufacturing: Safety directors reduce injuries by 40% by identifying risks proactively.
  • Auto Services: Business owners quadruple membership rates and boost revenue by 10%, achieving an 8X ROI by detecting understaffed kiosks in real-time.
  • Education: School principals reduce time spent resolving incidents like fights or theft by 80%, allowing more time for student-focused initiatives.

As companies like Apple, Meta, and OpenAI make strides in video AI, Spot AI stands at the forefront, merging Agentic AI with cutting-edge applications. Their advanced edge-processing solution is three times more powerful than conventional AI cameras, unlocking the latest foundational models and AI capabilities in video.

Spot AI’s commitment to accessibility means their platform is open, allowing companies to utilize existing footage regardless of vendor. This versatility positions Spot AI as the intelligence layer that transforms any camera into a Video AI Agent. Spot AI integrates seamlessly with industry-specific technologies, sensors, hardware, and operating systems, giving it a uniquely human-like ability to assess and respond across systems.

“We’re excited to invest in Spot AI as they execute on their mission to transform video signals into a powerful tool for industries around the globe,” said Tushar Gupta, Senior Director, Qualcomm Ventures at Qualcomm Technologies. “Spot AI’s solutions help businesses quickly generate insights from their customers’ video feeds, turning them into a valuable resource that improves safety, security, and day-to-day operations. This closely aligns with Qualcomm’s vision of implementing AI on the edge to solve real-world challenges.”

Video AI Agents are now generally available to all Spot AI customers. Additional investors in this round include GSBackers, MVP Ventures, and Cheyenne Ventures. Founded by Rish Gupta, Sud Bhatija, and Tanuj Thapliyal, Spot AI envisions a future where video data empowers a thriving developer ecosystem.

With a commitment to customer data ownership, Spot AI plans to release APIs and SDKs to enable developers to create custom agents using their video insights. This marketplace, akin to Salesforce or Zendesk, will allow customers to tailor AI tools to their unique needs and maximize the value of Spot AI’s technology.
