PlannerPal Raises $6M to Scale Client Intelligence

PlannerPal raised $6M to scale its AI platform for UK financial advisers, moving beyond note-taking to advanced client intelligence.

Mark Whitcroft, CEO and co-founder of PlannerPal

The big picture: UK startup PlannerPal has raised $6 million in a funding round led by Mercia Ventures for its AI platform, which aims to help financial advisers move beyond basic meeting notes to comprehensive client data management. More than 250 UK advice firms, including 20% of the top 20 wealth managers, reportedly use PlannerPal.

Why it matters:

  • Fragmented Data: Financial advice firms hold vast amounts of valuable client information, but it is often fragmented across conversations, documents, and disparate systems.
  • Beyond Admin: While initial AI tools focused on automating administrative tasks like meeting notes, the larger opportunity lies in making existing client data actionable and integrated across the business.
  • Market Demand: The UK financial advice market is large, with the FCA’s 2025 survey indicating that 95% of large firms are already using or considering AI in their advice processes.

How it works:

  • Integrated Platform: PlannerPal connects client conversations, documents, and CRM data, enabling firms to build better client records within their existing systems.
  • System Compatibility: The platform integrates with core adviser systems such as Iress Xplan, Intelliflo, Curo, Plannr, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and SharePoint, allowing advisers to launch it via single sign-on.
  • Mortgage Expansion: PlannerPal is extending its solution beyond wealth management into the UK mortgage market, addressing similar challenges of scattered client information and the need for consistent, scalable advice.

The catch: The market for financial advice AI is becoming crowded, with competitors like Nevis, Zocks, Saturn, and Marloo having raised significantly larger rounds and also expanding beyond basic note-taking. PlannerPal’s challenge is to prove that its integrated ‘client intelligence’ platform is a distinct, paid-for solution, rather than a feature that competing note-taking tools will eventually incorporate, especially with a funding round a fraction of the size of some rivals.
