Introducing Synthesia 2.0: Revolutionizing AI Video Communications

Synthesia announced the launch of Synthesia 2.0 today, the world’s first AI video communications platform designed to revolutionize video production and distribution for businesses. By introducing a slew of groundbreaking features, Synthesia 2.0 aims to help organizations seamlessly create and share AI-generated videos at scale.

One of the standout features of Synthesia 2.0 is the introduction of Personal AI Avatars. These avatars are designed to enhance the quality and capabilities of AI-driven video communication. Customers can create two types of avatars: an Expressive Avatar, developed using high-definition cameras for a professional look, and a custom avatar, which can be created using a webcam or phone. This flexibility allows users to maintain a high level of authenticity and personalization in their videos.

Synthesia 2.0 also includes the AI Video Assistant, which transforms entire knowledge bases into video libraries while supporting brand elements like custom fonts, colors, and logos. This assistant helps businesses overcome “writer’s block” by generating video drafts from simple prompts or existing documents. Additionally, the platform introduces bulk video creation, enabling users to convert extensive help articles into high-quality videos efficiently.

A new AI Screen Recorder also simplifies the process of creating screen recordings and turning them into engaging video presentations powered by AI avatars. This tool enhances the video editing experience by providing automated transcription, voiceover synchronization, and zoom effects, making it easier to produce and update instructional videos and presentations.

Synthesia is also enhancing its video player to offer personalized, real-time, interactive experiences. The new player will support multi-language capabilities, automatically playing videos in the viewer’s language. Future updates will include interactive features like clickable hotspots, embedded forms, quizzes, and personalized call-to-actions, significantly increasing viewer engagement and interaction.

“Over the past 100 years, we’ve seen the rise of radio, television, the internet, and social media slowly shifting the way we communicate and share information, from text to video and audio,” explained Dan-Vlad Cobasneanu, Head of Product Marketing at Synthesia. “Just over a decade ago, video made up about 30% of internet traffic; today, it’s over 82% and growing exponentially. Globally, people spend on average 3 billion hours per day on TikTok, 1 billion hours per day on YouTube, and over 200 million hours per day on Netflix.”

Committed to AI safety, Synthesia is on track to achieve ISO/IEC 42001 certification, the world’s first standard for AI management. This certification ensures the responsible development and use of AI systems, providing customers with confidence in leveraging Synthesia’s state-of-the-art AI capabilities while adhering to ethical and legal standards.

“With Synthesia 2.0, we aim to reinvent every step of the video production pipeline from the ground up and create a single, powerful, and easy-to-use platform, enabling your entire business to transition to a video-first world and drive real business outcomes,” added Cobasneanu.

London-based Synthesia was founded in 2017 by Victor Riparbelli, Steffen Tjerrild, Lourdes Agapito and Matthias Niessner. The startup is funded by Accel, Kleiner Perkins, Nvidia, Google Ventures, FirstMark, and Mark Cuban.
