Hemi Health Raises 4M for Migraine Care

Frederiksberg-based Hemi Health has raised €4 million in seed funding to expand its digital-first approach to chronic pain and neurological disorders. The round was led by Denmark’s Export and Investment Fund (EIFO) and Swiss Health Ventures, with participation from Alliance Venture Capital and Crowberry Capital.

The big picture: Chronic neurological conditions—including migraines, post-concussion syndrome, and whiplash—often leave patients trapped in fragmented “doctor-shopping” cycles that last years. Hemi Health aims to convert these disorganized journeys into structured, outcome-oriented programs by combining physical clinics with an AI-supported digital monitoring platform.

How it works:

  • Hybrid Care Model: Operates physical clinics in Denmark while providing remote specialist consultations and multidisciplinary support via the HEMI app.
  • Continuous Monitoring: Uses digital diaries to track symptoms and training dynamics, allowing for real-time adjustments to personalized treatment plans.
  • International Expansion: The capital will fund a launch into the Netherlands, a market that increasingly prioritizes insurance-driven, measurable care pathways.

The catch: While Hemi Health claims its platform makes chronic pain “predictable,” neuroplastic pain is inherently idiosyncratic and resistant to standardized workflows. The company’s hybrid strategy—maintaining expensive physical real estate while trying to scale a high-margin digital platform—is a difficult balancing act. It risks becoming a “jack-of-all-trades” that lacks the localized density of traditional clinics and the pure scalability of digital neurorehabilitation competitors. To win over Dutch insurers, Hemi must prove that its “structure” leads to a genuine reduction in long-term disability claims, rather than just adding another layer of digital overhead to the patient’s care journey.
