Fonio Raises €3M for AI Call Assistant

In December 2025, Vienna-based Fonio raised €3 million in a funding round backed exclusively by business angels. The group of 13 investors includes prominent figures such as Daniel Gutenberg, Christian Stieber, Robert Wuttke, and Jens Lapinski.

Founded by CEO Daniel Keinrath and Matthias Gruber, Fonio offers an AI-powered voice assistant designed to automate business phone communication.

The company’s platform handles incoming calls, transcribes conversations, schedules appointments, and integrates directly with CRM systems. Unlike standard chatbots, Fonio focuses on natural-sounding voice interactions to help SMEs manage customer service without missing calls.

The new capital will be used to expand its technology from a voice-only solution to a full omnichannel platform (covering email and chat) and to accelerate its growth across the DACH region and Europe.
