In the world of personal productivity, Mentor stands out by simplifying how people set and achieve their goals. Through AI-driven guidance and a supportive community, the platform helps users break down big challenges into manageable steps, making progress feel achievable. Co-founder Andres Bazzurro shares how Mentor addresses gaps in traditional productivity tools, combines innovation with practicality, and empowers users to stay on track in both their personal and professional lives.
1. What inspired the creation of Mentor, and how has its mission evolved?
Andres Bazzurro: Mentor was created out of a personal need to be more productive and stay on top of our personal and professional goals and everyday tasks. It started as a tool to help people prioritize and tackle goals step-by-step. Over time, Mentor’s mission has grown not just to simplify goal management but to empower users to achieve far more than they ever thought possible.
2. What gaps in traditional productivity tools did Mentor aim to address?
Andres Bazzurro: Traditional productivity tools often overlook the unique challenges each user faces. That’s why Mentor starts by asking a set of questions to understand the user and their starting point better. Throughout the journey, the Mentor provides motivation and personalized guidance. We fill the gaps by breaking down big goals into smaller tasks and using AI to offer customized advice and accountability, all while fostering continuous progress within a supportive, community-driven ecosystem.
3. Mentor focuses on breaking down goals into smaller tasks. How does this approach help users stay motivated and make consistent progress?
Andres Bazzurro: By breaking big goals into manageable steps, Mentor helps users feel less overwhelmed and more in control. We use simple guides, engaging checklists, and helpful analytics to give users a sense of accomplishment and keep them motivated to make steady progress.
4. How does Mentor’s AI ensure personalized guidance while maintaining simplicity and ease of use?
Andres Bazzurro: Mentor’s UI and UX are designed to be very intuitive. It offers features like Today View, which presents daily priorities and task workspaces for detailed planning. These features are tailored to each user’s goals, ensuring a seamless, user-friendly experience without overwhelming them.
5. What role does community accountability, such as finding partners through Discord, play in Mentor’s ecosystem?
Andres Bazzurro: Finding an accountability partner is key to helping users achieve their goals. By connecting individuals with partners through Discord, we create a supportive network that encourages users to stay dedicated to their goals. Stories from our community often highlight how this feature has been crucial in maintaining motivation and offering fresh perspectives on challenges.
6. Mentor provides detailed progress visualization through streaks and analytics. How do these features encourage long-term goal achievement?
Andres Bazzurro: Streaks and analytics give users a clear view of their progress, helping them feel proud of their achievements and see where they can improve. By showing growth visually, users are motivated to build consistent habits and stay focused on their long-term goals. Seeing their journey laid out like that boosts motivation and helps them align their daily actions with what really matters to them.
7. What trends do you see in personal productivity tools, and how does Mentor align with these advancements?
Andres Bazzurro: We’re seeing a trend toward more personalized, AI-driven productivity tools that adapt to individual needs. Another exciting development is the rise of generative user interfaces, which make it easier for people to create and manage their workflows intuitively. Mentor aligns with these advancements by integrating AI that tailors experience to each user, incorporating generative interfaces to simplify navigation, and fostering a community of goal-setters. We’re committed to evolving alongside these trends to help users stay ahead in their personal and professional lives.
8. Mentor recently launched version 2. What improvements have you made, and how do they enhance user experience?
Andres Bazzurro: Version 2 of Mentor brought some significant improvements, like better task customization, more detailed analytics, a revamped interface that’s easier to navigate, and more brilliant memory features to understand the entire user journey. These updates were shaped by valuable feedback from our users, helping us make sure Mentor not only meets but exceeds their expectations.
9. What do you enjoy most and least about your journey in developing a Mentor?
Andres Bazzurro: The most rewarding part of building a Mentor is seeing how it changes users’ lives. Whenever someone shares a success story about achieving their personal or professional goals, it reminds us why we do what we do.
10. What was the biggest challenge your team faced, and how did you overcome it?
Andres Bazzurro: Our biggest challenge was ensuring that Mentor had all the features users needed while keeping it simple and easy to use. Balancing advanced tools with a straightforward design wasn’t easy, but we focused on listening to user feedback and iterating quickly to improve the app.
11. What does success mean to you, and what are your aspirations for Mentor in the coming years?
Andres Bazzurro: For us, success means helping our users make real progress toward their goals and dreams. Over the next few years, we want to reach more people, keep improving Mentor, and become the go-to app for personal goal-setting and productivity. We’re also planning to create tools designed for specific groups like entrepreneurs, athletes, and creatives so they get exactly what they need to stay productive and focused.

12. What does a typical day look like for your team at Mentor?
Andres Bazzurro: Our team is split between London and Uruguay, but we stay closely connected. We check in with each other throughout the day to stay aligned while dividing responsibilities so we can move independently.
