During a recent panel discussion titled “AI Revolution: Transforming the Global Business Landscape” held by the WIn Fellowship in partnership with the Atlantic Council and Georgetown University, experts highlighted the speed with which AI is transforming the business world. The panelists unanimously agreed that AI is fundamentally transforming how organizations work, innovate, and compete on a global scale.

In the age of AI, Sandeep Matharoo, an AI, blockchain, and cloud computing expert, has been guiding businesses through this transition. Sandeep completely reshaped how an organization can align its investments in technology to its business goals and has done so through his two methodologies, the Strategic Technology Roadmap Methodology and the Automation of Building Business Capability Maps Using AI. These methodologies have enabled companies to automate their critical processes, reduce costs, engage with customers, and strengthen the system’s reliability.

Sandeep’s pioneering approach presents a complete roadmap for organizations to stay competitive in today’s digital environment. He is helping companies across industries scale and future-proof their growth strategies by strategically integrating AI into their business operations. Today, he shares these strategies and his vision of the future of technology-driven business growth.

Sandeep, experts at the recent WIn Fellowship panel discussion agree that AI has the potential to transform businesses. As an expert yourself, how are your methodologies, namely the Strategic Technology Roadmap Methodology and the Automation of Building Business Capability Maps Using AI, helping businesses realize this objective?

On the one hand, the Strategic Technology Roadmap Methodology was designed to help organizations align their technology investments with their long-term business objectives. The methodology includes several key steps: looking at the current state of technology, identifying future goals, doing a gap analysis, and making investment priorities. This approach helps companies focus on high-impact initiatives, utilize resources effectively, and make sustainable growth.

On the other hand, the Automation of Building Business Capability Maps Using AI is a methodology that automates the process of creating capability maps. This makes it easier for organizations to align their core functions with strategic goals. You’ll agree with me that the traditional process is manual and time-consuming. However, automating the process allows organizations to maintain their capability maps at all times and remain up-to-date with the current reality of their operations. This has been a huge innovation, especially in the utilities and retail sectors, where adapting quickly to business changes is critical.

Now, tell us about QuantumArc Solutions. Why did you decide to establish this tech consulting firm, and how have you used it to share your methodologies and impact businesses?

I founded QuantumArc Solutions to help businesses experiencing the complexities of emerging tech like blockchain and cloud computing. After years of working in leadership positions, I realized that many organizations were struggling to align their technology investments with business goals. To fill this gap, I started QuantumArc Solutions to deliver strategic consulting on how to create tailored technology roadmaps.

Today, the impact of this initiative has been quite big. From utilities to retail, we’ve assisted organizations with successful transformation. We worked with and developed a company-wide AI roadmap for a major retail company. This roadmap centered on personalized customer engagement and optimizing the supply chain. After the successful completion of the project, the company saw significant improvements in inventory management, and customer retention increased by 20%. We also worked on another project for a multinational power generation firm, which leveraged an AI-powered predictive maintenance system. The system reduced unplanned downtimes by 30%, which in turn saved costs and improved overall reliability.

Beyond that, we have also used AI to implement predictive maintenance for a utility company. The primary benefit of this initiative was reducing operational costs by 20% and improving grid reliability.

Now, these methodologies have been adopted by other industries, resulting in improvements in efficiency, customer satisfaction, and cost savings.

However, one of the things that differentiates us is our holistic approach. While we certainly seek to deliver the latest technologies, we always try our best to align these technologies with the long-term business strategies of our clients. Our roadmaps offer a clear, phased plan that prioritizes investments based on impact so that our clients get the most out of their technological and business potential.

You wrote a book titled “Developing Strategic Technology Roadmaps: A Comprehensive Guide for IT Leaders.” How does this achievement connect to your vision for mentorship and leadership in the tech space?

As a mentor and leader, I see my book, “Developing Strategic Technology Roadmaps: A Comprehensive Guide for IT Leaders,” as a reflection of my growing influence in the tech space. It is a resource for IT leaders and practitioners, providing both a framework and some of the ideas I have used to help businesses achieve long-term success. The book isn’t just about implementing technology but also about cultivating strategic leadership. So, I see the book as a coaching tool to inspire and guide those coming up in the industry to be leaders.

Now, you’re expecting an award for your work on strategic technology roadmaps. You’re also looking forward to joining Hackathon Raptors. How will these achievements expand your influence within the industry?

I am honored to have been shortlisted for an award for my work on strategic technology roadmaps that I believe will help organizations navigate their way through technological transformation. This recognition is part of my broader effort to mentor the next generation of tech leaders.

By joining Hackathon Raptors in December, I’ll be able to work with a community of experts specializing in impactful challenges. Through this platform, I will be working with emerging talent and sharing my insights on strategic thinking and innovation.

Through these initiatives, I remain committed to laying the foundation of the culture of innovation, strategic growth, and the building of a new generation of leaders to take on tomorrow’s challenges.

You have also been involved in socially significant projects. So, tell us what drives your passion for making an impact beyond business.

I’ve been involved in projects that address food security challenges. In these projects, I used my skills of technology strategy to optimize the distribution of humanitarian aid. I also volunteer my services as a consultant for non-profit organizations to help them incorporate technology to make their operations better. These initiatives remind me that, besides business, technology can also make a huge positive impact in society.

As someone who has achieved a lot, what were the challenges you’ve dealt with in your career, and how did you overcome them?

Keeping abreast of the very fast-evolving technology landscape is one of my biggest challenges. Everything from AI to blockchain is constantly changing, and if you want to stay ahead, you have to be continually learning.

The other one is innovation management within organizations. When you introduce new techniques, you have pushback from employees who tend to stick to old ways of doing things. For this, I try to build consensus and then show tangible benefits of adopting new technologies.

Furthermore, I’ve faced challenges with working with clients with complex requirements and navigating regulatory compliance, but my ability to build tailored solutions has helped me to work through these complexities.

What are your future plans, especially in the areas of leadership and emerging technologies like generative AI?

Going forward, I will continue to champion the next wave of emerging tech—specifically, generative AI. I intend to take our offerings at QuantumArc Solutions to more organizations to help them leverage the power of AI to transform their businesses. I also want to help mentor the next tech leaders as well and help continue the remarkable progress we’ve made in the area of digital transformation. My long-term goal is to help shape the future of AI and technology strategy so that we can make all of these advancements available and impactful across industries.
