Mango Capital Leads $4M Pre-Seed in Qpoint for eBPF-Powered API Monitoring

Qpoint announced the successful closure of a $4 million pre-seed funding round led by Mango Capital, with participation from Preface Ventures, Scribble Ventures, and Bloomberg Beta. The startup leverages eBPF technology to offer platform and operations teams unprecedented visibility into their applications’ external dependencies and traffic, ensuring reliability, reducing operational overhead, and safeguarding sensitive data.

Modern Applications + External Dependency Challenge

With the increasing reliance on external services to deliver core functionality, businesses accelerate time to market but face heightened operational risks. Vendor outages, hidden security vulnerabilities, and performance bottlenecks can hinder mission-critical systems. Traditional proxy-based solutions, while offering some control, introduce new risks such as certificate management burdens and single points of failure.

Qpoint addresses these challenges with a purpose-built platform that provides real-time visibility and fine-grained control over external traffic flows. Its use of eBPF, which runs directly within the Linux kernel, allows Qpoint to monitor requests between primary applications and external services without affecting performance or requiring data to leave the environment. This streamlines troubleshooting, reduces cloud costs, and reinforces security practices.

Qpoint empowers platform teams and site reliability engineers (SREs) by enabling them to:

  • Ensure External Service Reliability: Detect and mitigate vendor-related issues before they impact production environments.
  • Track API Rate Limits: Monitor API usage in real time to prevent throttling and maintain service availability.
  • Accelerate Root Cause Analysis: Quickly identify and resolve external integration issues, cutting downtime and mean time to resolution (MTTR).
  • Manage Cloud Bandwidth and Billing: Gain detailed insights into bandwidth utilization to attribute costs accurately across teams or projects.
  • Audit Vendor Performance: Maintain an audit trail of external API interactions to ensure compliance with SLAs and hold vendors accountable.
  • Strengthen Zero Trust Security: Enforce policies that restrict access to authorized applications only, minimizing the risk of unauthorized data exposure.

The Qpoint founding team brings deep expertise from roles at Shopify, Instacart, DigitalOcean, HashiCorp, and NS1 (acquired by IBM), applying their experience in building scalable infrastructure to tackle the growing complexities of modern application operations.

“Today’s applications rely heavily on external services, introducing significant risks to performance and security,” said Tyler Flint, co-founder and CEO of Qpoint. “Qpoint offers the visibility and control needed to prevent vendor issues from becoming operational bottlenecks, giving teams the tools to proactively manage dependencies.”

“Qpoint’s use of eBPF technology provides a powerful, performance-efficient way to manage external dependencies,” commented Robin Vasan, founder and general partner at Mango Capital. “Their platform solves critical challenges for operations teams while integrating seamlessly with existing workflows.”

The funding will fuel product development and meet growing market demand.
