Spotable Raises €4M to Scale Construction AI

Spotable raised €4M Seed funding to scale its AI platform for construction and expand internationally.

Sebastien Vandendriessche, CEO of Spotable

The big picture: Ghent-based construction tech company Spotable has raised €4 million in Seed funding to further develop its platform and accelerate its expansion across Europe and the United States.

Why it matters:

  • Automating manual processes: The construction industry, particularly for roofers, still relies heavily on manual processes for measuring buildings and preparing quotes, often taking up to eight hours per project.
  • Reducing inefficiencies: Many quotes are created in Excel, requiring tradespeople to visit sites in person before securing work, leading to significant time and resource waste.
  • Bridging the tech gap: Spotable aims to provide contractors with fast, reliable, and easy-to-use technology, eliminating paperwork and streamlining operations in a sector traditionally slow to adopt digital solutions.

How it works:

  • AI-powered measurement: Starting with a building’s address, Spotable uses geographic data and artificial intelligence to digitally measure structures and create 3D representations.
  • End-to-end workflow: The platform calculates quantities, links materials and prices, generates quotes, and supports the entire process through to ordering.
  • Ecosystem integration: Beyond roofers, Spotable connects contractors, distributors, and building material manufacturers, allowing contractors to calculate requirements, distributors to integrate product ranges, and manufacturers to make products available within the decision-making process.

The catch: While Spotable addresses a clear pain point, the construction tech market is increasingly competitive, with various solutions targeting different aspects of project management and estimation. Expanding into diverse international markets like France, Germany, and the United States will require significant adaptation to local regulations, material standards, and business practices, posing execution risks for a relatively young company.
