RoboK Secures €1.1M to Boost UK Logistics with AI

January 8, 2025 – CAMBRIDGE

RoboK, an AI startup originating from the University of Cambridge, has raised €1.1 million in funding from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). The funding will support the development of PALLETS (Proactive AI-powered Solutions for Logistics Efficiency, Transparency, and Safety), a cutting-edge initiative designed to revolutionize operations in UK ports and warehouses by integrating AI with existing CCTV systems.

Transforming Logistics with AI

Founded in 2017 by Hao Zheng, RoboK leverages computer vision and AI technologies to make industrial sites safer and more efficient. Through PALLETS, the company aims to transform traditional surveillance systems into proactive tools that provide real-time hazard detection and operational insights, reducing risks and optimizing workflows.

“PALLETS aligns perfectly with RoboK’s vision to create safer and more efficient industrial workplaces,” said Hao Zheng, Founder and CEO of RoboK. “We are honored to collaborate with key industry partners on a project of such strategic importance to the UK economy.”

Key Highlights of the PALLETS Initiative

AI-Driven Insights: Enhances workplace safety and operational transparency using real-time data.

Ethical AI Development: A core part of UKRI’s ‘Accelerating Trustworthy AI’ program, focused on advancing reliable AI adoption in critical sectors.

Collaborative Innovation: Brings together leading partners such as the Port of Dover, Freeport East, and the University of Essex, blending AI expertise with operational know-how.

Industry Collaboration and Early Results

The PALLETS initiative has already shown promising results. Mark Burton, Head of IT at the Port of Dover, noted:

“We’re pleased with the progress on PALLETS. The early results offer valuable insights into how computer vision can support our operational goals and spark innovative ideas for wider applications.”

David Brown, Chief Executive of The Bristol Port Company, added:

“The PALLETS project is helping us gain a deeper understanding of how AI can enhance safety and efficiency. Early results are encouraging, and we look forward to further collaboration.”

Strategic Importance

The project is set for completion by March 2025 and has the potential to set new standards in logistics management. By addressing safety and efficiency challenges, RoboK aims to reduce barriers to AI adoption and build trust in automated solutions across the logistics sector.
