Osavul Raises €8.5M to Detect Hybrid Threats

Osavul raised €8.5M Series A led by 33N Ventures to expand AI capabilities and detect hybrid threats across critical infrastructure.

Osavul Raises €8.5M to Detect Hybrid Threats

The big picture: Osavul, an AI-powered platform for detecting and assessing hybrid threats, has raised €8.5 million in a Series A round, bringing its total funding to over €12 million.

Why it matters:

  • Escalating Threats: Hybrid attacks are increasingly frequent and sophisticated, targeting critical infrastructure, information networks, and telecommunications. Over 150 state-linked incidents have been recorded in Europe since 2022.
  • Integrated Defense Gap: Companies often manage cybersecurity and physical security separately, leaving them vulnerable to coordinated hybrid attacks that span multiple domains. Osavul connects these signals to identify potential attackers and at-risk targets.
  • Growing Demand: The EU has allocated €1.4 billion to cyber defense, yet its early-warning network is not fully operational, underscoring the urgent need for effective threat detection solutions like Osavul’s.

How it works:

  • Comprehensive Monitoring: Osavul monitors open-source and restricted-access data to identify signs of disinformation campaigns, cyberattacks, sabotage, and other hostile activities.
  • Cross-Domain Intelligence: The platform connects signals across information, cyber, and physical domains to assess who may be targeting an organization and how its personnel or supply chains could be affected.
  • Dual-Use Deployment: Developed during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Osavul’s technology has been deployed over 50 times across more than ten countries and supports NATO’s Information Environment Assessment Capability. It can also be deployed on-premises for sensitive government, defense, and enterprise data.

The catch: The hybrid threat detection market is competitive, with numerous cybersecurity and intelligence firms vying for government and enterprise contracts. Osavul’s success will depend on its ability to differentiate its AI capabilities, rapidly expand its commercial team, and effectively penetrate new markets and industries, particularly critical infrastructure operators, amidst evolving threat landscapes and varying national security priorities.
