GasLab raised $1M Pre-Seed to ensure artists are credited and compensated for AI-generated music.

The big picture: GasLab (Generative AI Solutions Lab), a new GenAI music platform founded by DJ and producer Reinier Zonneveld, has launched with $1M in pre-seed funding. The platform aims to protect the future of the creative industry by ensuring artists whose music shapes AI-generated tracks are recognized, credited, and share in the value created. GasLab provides an end-to-end system for AI music.

  • Revenue Sharing: Every track receives a permanent ID and watermark linked to its attribution record, which then forms the basis for sharing revenue from subscriptions or releases with contributing artists and rights holders.

The catch: GasLab’s success hinges on widespread adoption by artists and labels, a significant challenge in a fragmented music industry already grappling with AI’s impact on copyright and compensation. Convincing a critical mass to opt-in and trust a new platform, while fending off potential competition from other attribution solutions or industry-led initiatives, will be key.
