Enact Intelligence Raises €26.68M to Scale Physical AI Robots

Enact Intelligence raised €26.68M pre-Seed to accelerate hardware and deploy physical AI robots with industrial partners.

Manuel Yves Galliker, CEO and founder of Enact Intelligence.

The big picture: Enact Intelligence, a Zurich-based physical AI startup, has emerged from stealth with a €26.68 million pre-Seed funding round. This marks one of Europe’s largest pre-Seed raises to date, with participation from institutional investors redalpine, Notion Capital, and firstminute capital, alongside notable angel investors including Arthur Mensch (Mistral) and Yann LeCun (AMI Labs, Meta).

Why it matters:

  • Dexterity Challenge: Most robots today rely almost entirely on vision, limiting their ability to reliably manipulate objects or learn efficiently from experience.
  • Haptic Sensing Gap: Existing haptic sensing solutions for robots are often too costly or fragile for meaningful industrial deployment, creating a barrier to advanced physical interaction.
  • Talent Advantage: Enact Intelligence aims to leverage Zurich’s strong talent pool, combining Silicon Valley AI expertise with local robotics and hardware engineering capabilities to address this gap.

How it works:

  • Rethinking the Stack: Enact Intelligence is redesigning the entire physical AI stack, from model architectures and data pipelines to the actuators and sensors that feed the models.
  • Actuator-Based Sensing: The company’s robots capture force data directly from their actuators, mimicking how humans sense tension through muscles rather than just fingertips, enabling whole-body force-awareness.
  • Building on Existing Models: Enact leverages existing reasoning, language, and vision capabilities, adapting them to output robot actions for interacting with the real world and efficiently learning from experience.

The catch: The physical AI market is becoming increasingly competitive, with many startups and established players vying for solutions in robotics dexterity. Scaling hardware and R&D pipelines while integrating with diverse industrial partners across manufacturing, infrastructure, retail, and food processing will require significant execution capabilities in a rapidly evolving landscape.
