Mendo Closes €12M to Expand European Adoption

The big picture: French AI adoption startup Mendo has closed a €12 million Series A round, bringing its total funding to €15.5 million. The company, founded on the observation that most people underutilize employer-provided technology, aims to bridge this gap, especially as agentic AI becomes prevalent. Mendo now supports over 100,000 employees across more than 100 major organizations, including PwC, Novo Nordisk, and Crédit Agricole. The Paris-based startup, whose platform is available at mendo.cloud, will use the new capital to expand its approach across Europe.

Why it matters:

  • Underutilized Technology: Most employees do not fully leverage the technology their employers invest in, leading to significant wasted resources and a growing performance gap.
  • Agentic AI Shift: The rise of agentic AI is transforming how entire teams operate, making the challenge of technology adoption an existential issue for enterprises that must rebuild processes around autonomous agents.
  • Low Deployment Rates: Gartner reports that 70% of enterprise AI and agentic projects fail to reach real deployment, underscoring a critical need for solutions that ensure effective integration and usage.

How it works:

  • In-Chat Guidance: Mendo integrates directly within existing generative AI tools like Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Mistral AI, providing real-time guidance to employees within their chat windows.
  • Unique Integration Layer: The platform operates via its own proprietary layer, rather than APIs, allowing it to work seamlessly with any generative AI chat interface and track usage in real time.
  • Privacy-Focused Analytics: Mendo includes an analytics engine that protects employee privacy while providing insights into where AI is creating value and identifying optimal areas for agent deployment.

The catch: While Mendo specializes in generative AI adoption, it faces competition from broader digital adoption platforms like WalkMe and Whatfix, which may adapt their offerings to include AI workflows. The challenge for Mendo will be to maintain its specialized edge and prove that its unique integration and analytics approach can consistently deliver higher adoption rates and ROI compared to more generalized solutions, especially as enterprises grapple with the rapid pace of agentic AI development.
