Denver, CO – December 5, 2024
AMP Robotics, a pioneer in AI-driven recycling technology, has raised $91 million in Series D funding to scale its AI-powered waste sortation solutions globally. The funding round, led by Congruent Ventures, included contributions from Sequoia Capital, XN, Blue Earth Capital, Liberty Mutual Investments, CalSTRS, Wellington Management, Range Ventures, and Tao Capital Partners.
Revolutionizing Recycling with AI
AMP Robotics leverages advanced AI-powered sortation to modernize recycling operations, reducing labor costs and enhancing resource recovery. With over 400 systems deployed across North America, Asia, and Europe, AMP’s solutions have sorted more than 2.5 million tons of recyclables, identifying 150 billion items through its AI platform.
Scaling AI Sortation Systems
The latest investment will accelerate the deployment of the AMP ONE platform, an advanced AI automation system designed to efficiently process various waste streams. AMP ONE’s ability to recognize colors, textures, shapes, and logos enables the recovery of previously unrecoverable materials, maximizing the economic value of recyclables.
In a strategic partnership with Waste Connections Inc., AMP Robotics recently equipped a Colorado recycling facility with its cutting-edge technology, demonstrating scalability and operational efficiency.
Addressing Global Recycling Challenges
The recycling industry faces mounting pressures, from stricter purity standards imposed by China in 2017 to labor shortages exacerbated by COVID-19. AMP Robotics provides a sustainable solution by automating waste management processes and addressing supply chain disruptions.
Matanya Horowitz, founder and CEO of AMP Robotics, commented:
“Recycling rates have stagnated, but AMP’s AI sortation systems deliver tangible results by reducing costs, recovering material value, and extending landfill life. This funding allows us to tackle larger projects and further modernize the global recycling infrastructure.”
Future Impact
With a focus on reducing landfill reliance and increasing sustainability, AMP Robotics is transforming the waste management sector. The company’s systems enhance efficiency and unlock new resource recovery opportunities, reshaping the economics of recycling.
Abe Yokell, Managing Partner at Congruent Ventures, emphasized:
“AMP represents the real-world potential of AI, enabling communities to recycle effectively while reducing emissions. Their solutions are crucial for a sustainable future.”
As global recycling demands grow, AMP Robotics is positioned to lead the industry toward a cleaner, more resource-efficient world.
