Raidium, a French medtech startup pioneering precision radiology, has successfully raised $13 million in seed funding to advance its AI-powered diagnostic technology. The round was led by Newfund, with participation from Kurma, Founders Future, Galion.exe, and the European EIC fund.
Revolutionizing Radiology with AI
Founded in 2022 by Dr. Paul Hérent and Pierre Manceron, Raidium is reshaping radiology with the world’s first radiological AI-native foundation model. This breakthrough, dubbed the “GPT of Radiology,” empowers clinicians and researchers to rapidly and accurately generate imaging biomarkers for clinical practice and trials.
Addressing the Challenges of Modern Radiology
Radiology faces mounting challenges due to complex 3D modalities like MRIs and CTs, which strain outdated systems and workflows. Raidium’s AI platform offers:
• Advanced 3D segmentation for detailed analysis.
• Automated biomarker generation for precise diagnostics.
• Unprecedented speed, up to 2,500 times faster than manual methods.
By providing comprehensive tools for cases such as metastatic cancer tracking and virtual liver biopsies, Raidium significantly enhances productivity and diagnostic accuracy.
Strategic Use of Funding
The funding will enable Raidium to:
1. Expand its global footprint, establishing a U.S. office to strengthen its network and partnerships.
2. Accelerate R&D efforts, enhancing its multimodal imaging capabilities.
3. Secure regulatory approvals, including FDA and CE certifications.
4. Double its workforce, adding 25 new team members in research, development, and commercial partnerships.
Partnerships and Early Milestones
Since its inception, Raidium has forged strategic partnerships with leading academic institutions like AP-HP and Centre Imagerie du Nord. The company has also secured contracts with pharmaceutical clients and earned a place in the Amgen Biolabs Golden Ticket mentorship program.
Transforming Precision Diagnostics
Raidium’s mission is to redefine radiology with scalable, integrated solutions that address inefficiencies in both clinical practice and trials. As Dr. Paul Hérent, CEO, stated:
“Our goal is to create life-saving, accessible solutions that empower radiologists to deliver timely and accurate diagnoses.”
Looking Ahead
With plans to strengthen its presence in Europe and the U.S., Raidium is well-positioned to lead the transformation of radiology, setting new standards in speed, accuracy, and scalability.
